Hasslefree Miniatures Newsletter

Some new releases from Hasslefree Miniatures

Finally, New Releases Again!
Allo everyone, today marks the overdue return to our normal schedule of releases and news. As mentioned in our last newsletter we've been busy behind the scenes fixing a lot of small but annoying problems that have piled up over the years.
Now that's mostly in hand we can get back to bringing you the miniature goodies!
This week we have two new Modern Troopers, a new paladin-esque* Fantasy Female, some new Limited Edition Resin Masters and new paint colours.
*I've been using the word 'Paladinesuqe' to describe Gwen repeatedly, I'm not certain you can just stick -esque on the end of anything but I like the word so I'm keeping it! ;)
Enough wibbling, first up we have a lil announcement before we can get on with the Kevgasms!
Charity Raffle
You'll excuse us for a moment if we interrupt your viewing for a quick anouncement.
A couple of years ago a friend of Hasslefree (and of us personally) passed away at a young age from a genetic disorder called CGD. Gareth "Grekwood" Sutherwood was a regular on the Forum of Doom and other forums and is the creator of 'Banana Kev' from our Dress a Kev contest and the inspiration for Gareth, our new Banana wearing survivor.
When Kev sculpted Gareth, 2 fellow friends and painters wanted to do something to honour Grek's memory. We donated a resin master to each and they donated their time and talent for free. Matt 'Gi6ers' Lucas painted up one to present to Grek's mum which you can seeHERE while Ben 'Captain Tightshirt' Brownlie painted up the one pictured above and is raffling it off for a charity benefiting CGD. Details at the bottom of his section.
Grek has a brother, Carl, also afflicted with CGD who sent us this information about the disease...
CGD is a genetic immune system disorder which leaves the sufferer unable to fight infections. Both Gareth and myself were born with it. Research into CGD is extremely important, not just for CGD patients, but for many others genetic disorders as
it is a single-gene deficiency, meaning any breakthroughs in CGD are likely to also shed light on how other genetic disorders work.
Currently the only known cure is a Bone Marrow Transplant, but it carries high risks, one of which can lead to mortality. Therefore funding research into alternatives such as Gene Therapy will hopefully one day lead to a much safer and
reliable cure, allowing patients to be able to fight infections for themselves without the use of medications. Research also goes in to looking for better medications to help patients fight infections on a daily basis. With improved  medications, this could lead to less hospitalisations, and a better longer life.
Every donation is extremely appreciated, and I am very grateful that everyone involved has taken the time and effort to be a part of this.
Ben's raffle is running over HERE but you'll have to be quick as it ends tonight!
If you miss it or just want to donate then you can find the charity page link direct HERE.
Now back to your regular programming...
Mongrel and Badger join the Squad
Mongrel & Badger
The 5th and 6th variants of Modern Trooper were released this past week, making a total of 6 full codes and 20 variant bodies, 6 heads and 4 backpacks!
Mongrel comes armed with a choice of SA80 assault rifle or suppressed UMP45 for armaments, the 'Mongrel' head with Advanced Combat Helmet, goggles and face covering and the new Heavy Backpack.
Badger is supplied with a modified M249 Light Machine Gun and USAS-12 automatic shotgun as weapon choices, the 'Badger' style head with Advanced Combat Helmet and goggles and the Standard Backpack.
Modern Troopers Everywhere!
As mentioned above, the addition of the 2 new troopers now makes a total of 20 variant bodies! Combined with the 6 head variants and 4 backpack types that is..... 120, carry the 3, divided by 6 1/2 equals...a huge buttload of customisation! And yes I believe 'huge buttload' is the correct mathematical term.
It will be a little while before we see the 7th and 8th variant (just in case some of you out there were planning on waiting) but we have plans to not just expand this range with special weapons and females for the current Squad but to extend into Russian and SAS squads too!
Which unfortunately for me just means many more months of being mocked about my inability to know an L85 from a HK416 (No, I absolutely don't want to know the difference before all you weaponry enthusiasts out there start typing long and detailed emails :) )
There's also plans to sell backpackless bodies for those of you who prefer your modern soldiers running light. Honestly I am 'not' looking forward to putting together all the variants for photos!
(Ok, I really did do the math and I'm pretty sure by the end of the current plans the US male soldiers alone will have 2000+ variants available by swapping heads and backpacks on the many weapon options)
Gwendolyne Castlemere of the Rising Vale
Gwen
No, no particular reason for that name other than we fancied naming something in a Tre Manor style ;)
(Although we spelled it correctly *badumching*)
Anyway! Gwen is our new fantasy female paladin type. Oddly we had a lot of requests for some 'less' dynamic poses, along the lines ofAlicia, following a string of dynamic stuff.
Armed with a huge greatsword and fully armoured she can also double as a statue if you happen to need a very well sculpted one :) Released in white metal as normal above and also available, along with Alicia, as a Resin Master (pictured) HERE.
More Resin Masters
Our resin master offerings, that you can read all about HERE, have proven significantly more popular than we had imagined. While this would nomally be a good thing it means we've had to work our resin caster much harder than usual to keep up with normal duties 'and' the new masters to try and stop them going out of stock immediately we add another couple to a code.
So you might be wondering why we've added 'more' :) Well if you think about it, it's atualy easier for us. It's easier to run 5 moulds twice each than 1 mould ten times as the 5 can be run concurrently, so the more variants we have on offer the less of a strain on a particular master mould.
So with that said and done we now have Resin Masters available of the following....
Jay 'Tron Guy' Maynard, which you will find out mroe about in our next newsletter :D
Delphine, our fantasy female barbarian with the power of .. something or another.
Taxxis (b), our fantasy necromancer with a fondness for nudity
Cobra, our very popular Zombocalpyse survivor
Joe, a British-style punk with a baseball bat for when the Zombocalypse hits the East End!
Codename: Alexander, a modern superspy.
Oooh the Pretty Colours!
WWII CDA Paints
We needed a paint restock so we took the opportunity to add even more colours to our range. We now offer another 11 colours bringing our grand total up to 124.
Ostensibly they are the start of the WWII range but obviously they are useful for many things. I particularly like the Sea Grey myself.
And Finally...
As we were so busy with behind the scenes stuff that we've only just got back to our release schedule we've been heavy on the WIP shots over on our Facebook Page just so our fans didn't get bored :)
You can find a fair few over there right now including 2 new members to join the Spec Ops offshoot of our Modrn Troopers, an all new 40mm Kalee variant, a new Fantasy Barbarian and a Modern Female Comic Book style 'assassin'.
Next week, we'll have the first hints at our Kickstarter plans for the year. Yes I said 'year', we've been working on more than one simultaneously, mainly in case someone else came along and trumped us :) So far, so good *touch wood* so we may be setting ourselves up to be 'very' busy in the latter half of 2013.
I also set up a thread HERE where you can request any Resin masters we haven't yet put up as codes.
And I guess that's it for this week, cya next time!
Arty.
