Lucky Logan MVP.


One of the originals or a charming con artist? Whatever the facts are, Lucky’s not one for settling down and never plays for the same team for very long. On the pitch Logan is full of surprises. He’ll try anything, and being lucky he’s got a good chance of succeeding.


He’s a bit of a Jack the Lad, and his lopsided grin and scruffy hair appear on several adverts, mostly for whiskey. He’s fast, agile and his trademark is being lucky and getting just out of the way of the slam, being just over the line, just hitting the mark.

Ludwig Z'zor MVP.

Ludwig is a winged monstrosity revered for his grumpiness and sulking. Chants of "Cheer up bug!" are often aimed at him if the opposing team score and he's not averse to leaping into the crowd and letting the fans know "what he thinks" (which usually involves lots of pushing, shoving and occasional disembowelling).


On the pitch Ludwig uses his wings to great effect, often feinting a move only to flit around the other side of a player and slam them to the ground from another direction. Ludwig has defined the Sucker Punch in modern-age DreadBall.


Repeatedly fined for flying in the arena, Ludwig is seldom out of trouble with Digby. He is so obviously different physically that these days he is required to wear devices to restrict his flight, reducing its effectiveness to a fluttering jump. Though not quite the game-defining ability it was before, this is still very useful for Ludwig and the buzz of his wings is always answered by a similar sound from the crowd.


Lu-Fin Exiles, The.
Under the earth of New Czechia, in specially developed laboratories the scientists of the  Lu-Fin Conglomerate are doomed to spend the rest of their lives analysing the materials collected from suspected Plague outbreaks.   Locked down under miles of elaborate safeguards to ensure no outbreak can result from their investigations, these exiles are locked in to a programme of experiments on the recovered corpses and any alien hardware thought connected. Their research has afforded the Corporation a better understanding of how to best combat the Plague on the battlefield  with a few biological tricks of their own.

Beyond the dissection of the “hows”, the Surgeon Generals are concerned with the “whys” – why the Plague were designed, breed or evolved. It has been  theorised that the creation of the various mutated hosts is the intended effect. These savage, ultraviolent killers have no compassion, no fear, and yet retain most of their problem solving capabilities. The Stage 3s are for the most part infertile, and so after a while a race infected by the Plague will die out. Many are killed outright by the disease, others are killed by the infected members of their own society. Those infected have no way of reproducing other than by infection. As long as a Primary Infection Source – one of the “Plague Devices” remains active, the Plague will not stop.

At first, the Lu-Fin exiles thought the primary purpose of the Stage 3s seems to be to spread the disease beyond the principal infection site, as they retain the ability to utilise technology and indeed, appear to be driven to spread away from their infection site. But the infection’s characteristics are inherently self-limiting. Could this be to protect the creators of the Plague? The leading, current theory is that extinction of intelligent races through sheer havoc rather than direct pathogen mortality is the ultimate aim of the Plague.

If you’ve messed up a job, you call Lyra. If you need to get rid of a body, fast, you call Lyra. Someone’s about to rat you out to ISO? You know what to do. Problem is, Lyra stopped answering a long time ago. She used to work for the Zoma Corporation, a shockingly shady outfit operating out of an abandoned waystation in the Teelon Drift. Her services were always available to the highest bidder, but Zoma owned her. Literally. Life as a slave didn’t seem to bother her until one day she saw a DreadBall game, and everything changed as she recognised a chance for a different life. Slipping away from her captors, she found the nearest underground event through her network of contacts and offered her services as a free agent. Fast and deadly, she now plays for hard credits, hoping to save enough to buy her freedom.
