North Star Newsletter

I've ordered the rulebook for this just to give it a try.

I may use my own models rather than theirs...not that there's anything wrong with their models that is...I just have a lot of fantasy models of my own going un-used...

FROSTGRAVE Fantasy Wargames in the Frozen City
The release date is July 2015
FROSTGRAVE Fantasy Wargames in the Frozen City
Necromancer & Apprentice. Necromancers study the magic and spells associated with death, as well as the creation and control of undead creatures such as zombies and animated skeletons. They generally wear dark colours (most commonly black).Amidst the frozen ruins of an ancient city, wizards battle in the hopes of discovering the treasures of a fallen empire. In this fantasy skirmish wargame, each player takes on the role of a wizard from one of ten schools of magic, and builds his band of followers. The wizard's apprentice will usually accompany his master, and more than a dozen other henchman types are available for hire, from lowly thugs to heavily armoured knights and stealthy thieves. Wizards can expand their magical knowledge by unlocking ancient secrets and may learn up to 80 different spells.
Witch & Apprentice. Witches draw on the subtle powers of nature for their magic, and specialize in the brewing of potions, casting of curses, and seeking aid from plants and animals. Despite popular thought, most witches are not old, ugly women. While individual games of Frostgrave are quick and can easily be played in an hour or two, it is by connecting them into an ongoing campaign that players will find the most enjoyment. In the campaign section, players will find treasure tables, rules for establishing bases, and even tables for wandering monsters. The scenarios given in the book are merely the beginning of the limitless adventures that can be found amidst the ruins of the Frozen City.

Elementalist & Apprentice. Elementalists are the most outwardly powerful type of wizard. Their magic is centred around controlling the four elements, usually in loud, explosive, and unsubtle ways. Their clothes tend to feature one bold colour .As Frostgrave is a table-top miniatures game, we’ve teamed up with Osprey Games to bring you the official Frostgrave figures. We’ve based them on the illustrations in the book, painted by artistDmitry Burmak. There are three different sets of figures.
The first set is the Wizards themselves. TheWizards are in packs of two figures, a Wizard and an Apprentice of a particular school. There are 10 different schools of magic in the game Frostgrave, and we have a pack of Wizards for each. These figures are made of pewter.
Thief & Barbarian. Dagger: includes any kind of one handed weapon smaller than a sword, such as knives, short swords and clubs. These weapons do -1damage. Models armed with both a dagger and a hand weapon are assume to mainly fight with the hand weapon.
The second set is specialist followers that theWizards can employ, such as thieves and barbarians. These are also pewter figures.

The third set is plastic figures. This is a box of twenty plastic figures to represent the soldiers the Wizards employ to accompany them intoFrostgrave. The box set contains plenty of different weapon and equipment variants that no two Wizard parties will ever look the same.

We would like to thank especially the figure designers who worked on Frostgrave. We were joined by a star studded cast on this project, it was a real joint effort and we appreciate the quality of work they put in. In alphabetical order they are:
Soothsayer & Apprentice. The subtle magic of a Soothsayer allows the wizard to expand his senses outside of his body, including through time itself. They can reach into the past to learn the secrets of history, or they can look into the future.
Thaumaturge & Apprentice. Thaumaturges draw their magical powers from positive energy. Most, though not all, believe this energy comes from some form of deity. These wizards are healers and protectors, who often spend as much time on good works as they do on the study of magic.
