Unboxing Malifaux - Rooster Riders

'Giddy-Up...'

The Rooster Riders box contains enough parts for three miniatures...namely the Rooster Riders. It also contains stat cards for them though there are no upgrade cards.

Rooster Riders - Sprue
The box has three sprues in it as well as the aforementioned cards. Here's pictures of both sides of them...

Rooster Riders - Stat Card
Wyrd Games didn't like my publishing pictures of both sides of the stat cards so you'll have to make do with this...

Should there be any assembly issues with the model then they will be listed in the appropriate section and you can view larger versions of the smaller pictures or instruction pictures by clicking on them.

Rooster Riders - Instructions

Some General Notes on Assembly.
Many of these models contain quite small parts so depending on how dexterous you are you might consider getting yourself some tweezers. Dry-fitting is also always a good idea in case a part needs a tiny bit of extra filing or filling as some of the fits are quite tight. Where the parts on the sprue are quite thin (chains, weapon shafts, cables and the like) then it might be better to remove parts with a sharp scalpel rather than cutters.

Rooster Riders
First some general tips. For a start they're being ridden by Gremlins so expect tiny thin Gremlin parts. The roosters also have multi-part feet but they have decent enough contact points compared to those you may have encountered in other such kits so that's a relief. The roosters tails are in a number of pieces but the locations for the additional parts are fairly well defined and it's difficult to get them mixed up. Just follow the instructions and be patient and you shouldn't have much trouble.

There are some seams that might need some hobby putty with which to fill the gaps but to be fair taking my own advice about filing and dry-fitting would probably have sorted that out.

Rooster Rider A - Assembled
Other than the generic issues this one is trouble free.

Rooster Rider B - Assembled
The rifle goes into a slot on the roosters neck. It might be best to put the legs on last as I found putting them on first made the arm alignment out.

Rooster Rider C - Assembled
Other than the scarily thin reins this one only has the generic issues.

Here's a few close-ups...

Rooster Riders - Comparison Picture
Here's a couple of comparison pictures between the new plastic ones and the old limited edition metal Easter model that was no doubt the inspiration for the newer models.

Thoughts and comments are (as usual) most welcome.
