Unboxing Raging Heroes - Arushka Yaga 'Soul-Weaver'

"This won't hurt a bit...probably..."

In this feature we're going to look at one of the characters for the Kurganova Shock Troops...

For those of you who are interested in the background for Raging Heroes various 'Toughest Girls of the Galaxy' projects then the link to their original Kickstarter can be found here, their last project is here and their own website is located here. Most of their original Kickstarter is now available to purchase retail. There is also apparently a game system in development but until then I'm sure there are many other systems that you can be using them for...

First we'll have a brief look at the background for the Kurganovas and then we'll meet Arushka Yaga.

THE KURGANOVA SHOCK TROOPS (KST)
Led by the ultra-powerful Kurganov family, the Kurganova Shock Troops are a highly organized and disciplined army with underlying Eastern European themes. They also benefit from the support of strong cyber-enhanced paganic magic. This, among other things, allows them to 'waken' the 'were' gene that can transform some members of the Kurganova army into giant were-wolves or were-bears.

Arushka Yaga 'Soul-Weaver'
The Yaga Soul Weavers are a cast of sorceresses that can bend the primal forces of nature. Their powers are greatly amplified by cybernetic enhancements.

One of their key skill is that they are able to unleash the power of the 'were' gene. This gene was discovered by Kurganova scientists and is the key to turn people in were-animals (like were-wolves or were-bears, for example). And so, the Yaga sorceresses are able to turn some of the very rigid and disciplined Kurganova Troops into furious and unstoppable wild beasts.

The Yaga Soul Weaver channel the forces of ancient spirits through their cyber-enhanced shamanism. On the battlefield the Yaga Soul Weavers generally work as a team, each of them serving as a relay and an amplifier of the shamanic forces.

The Kurganovas are torn between the chaos of their paganistic roots and the rigid order of their modern high-tech ultra hierarchic society.  The Yaga Soul Weavers stand in the middle of this perpetual turmoil. The powers that be tolerate their existence because the immense power they bring to battle, but at the same time, distrust these unpredictable forces, fearing that they could overthrow the current regime.  So the Soul Weavers are viewed with mixed feelings of respect, fear and disdain.

Here's pictures of both sides of the unassembled model parts.

A Brief Note About Resin Models.
Also it's worth noting that many resin models have a slightly greasy feel caused by the substance they use to stop them sticking to the moulds during production and this can cause issues with paint not sticking to the model properly. Carefully washing the parts in soapy water will remove this should your model be unduly affected. Parts that are bent (or that aren't and you want to be) can be corrected by heating up slightly in warm water and then bending into the required configuration.

Arushka Yaga 'Soul-Weaver' - Assembled
This model consists of six parts and has a number of minor challenges to overcome during assembly. There's a decorative piece under the left arm that has some pieces from the moulding process attaching it to other parts so be careful when removing the excess so as to avoid damaging the detail here or snapping the piece. The staff may also need slightly re-bending though the attached cable piece minimises this potential issue considerably. The attachment point to the base is also quite small so if you're removing the 'slot' section for a more decorative base you may want to consider pinning.
